Blue Bola.

Its freezing here without central heat... I see my breath indoors, I sleep in a room where water can freeze, and snow storms can dump an inch of snow in 20 minutes... crazy... I was teaching my class and this was the view I came out to. Interestingly the roads never freeze or snow over because in an example of Japanese ingenuity they pipe in hot water over all major roads in every city and town. Japan has an abundance of water (heavy rainfall amounts and snow that melts gradually throughout the entire summer), and perhaps one of the most integrate systems of dams anywhere in the world (only two rivers in Japan have been left untouched. The rest damned to be dammed). Here is the snow, the cold, and the fountains. Cell phone cameras... got to love them...

Good cell phone...use it for talking too, huh?

Maybe they should pump some of that ingenuity into the workplace and keep your English breath from freezing...

Just watched IU win in double overtime at Illinois...the crowd and Illini were very rowdy...Our star freshman player had given on oral acceptance to Illinois and then when we hired Sampson, he retracted his oral and came to IU. The players were bumping him unsportsmanlike behaviors, the crowd booed everytime he touched the ball, and things were thrown on his father in the stands. Not a nice scene, but we finally nailed it and the poor sports wound up being poor, sorry losers.

John Mauer came over for the superbowl with his friend Pam and Daddy...I served snacks at the dining room table not realizing he hadn't eaten at a table for a very long time. He's very shy about his disability...but it turned out he had a great time. I'm so glad he sees us as a safe haven.

Tornados in the south on voting Tuesday...serious damage and a loss of life. Nature can be so cruel and unpredictable. Snow is better, believe me.

Sending you much love and appreciations for the blog and photos.

Hugs, Mom
